This day was spent either catching up on chores around the rig, shopping, or checking out the Fremont County Fair. When the evening came, we made a car caravan trip 26 miles to Lander, WY for the Eagle Spirit Dancers traditional Native American dancing. The setting was outdoors at the Museum of the American West with a backdrop of the gorgeous Wind River Mountains. What a wonderful experience it was for all who attended! Early in the performance our group was announced and asked to stand to be recognized. The director of the museum came around and gave each of our veterans a key ring depicting the museum's logo and thanked our veterans for their service.
The dancers were all from the Shoshone and Arapahoe tribes and they performed a variety of dances that are performed at powwows across the country. Near the end, spectators were invited to come to the circle and perform their favorite dance. Many of our folks participated and our own David Weis was the winner of first prize! He won a Sacajewea dollar! Way to go David! Then many of us participated in the final dance of the evening, the Friendship Dance. It was a lovely way to spend our last evening in Wind River country.
A few of our group that did not attend the dances went to the Fair to see the kids mud wrestle with pigs! They also had a great time.

love the frienship dances and meeting the People. lucky you!
